Hunching Over Hinders Happiness~ Stand Tall and Be BLISSFUL!

Standing up straight is more important than just looking great, it is the key to feeling great.  Is hunching over your computer hindering your happiness??

"Sometimes joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy," is one of my favorite quotes by author Thich Nhat Hanh.

When you feel joyful, your heart smiles and it radiates across your face.  The same works in reverse, when you smile long enough eventually, it sends the smiling sensation back to your heart and warms it to create the sensation of joy.  Go ahead and practice smiling even if you are not feeling joyful.  Notice what happens as soon as you lift the corners of your mouth.  Your whole spirit feels elevated.

The same is true of your heart.  When you heart is open, you stand tall and confident.  When your heart is closed, your shoulders tend to literally slouch forward energetically closing off the area of the heart.   The ability to give and receive love is compromised.  Just as the sun may be shining, but if it is blocked by clouds or trees, its rays cannot be felt.  The amazing potential exists, it just isn't being realized.

The greatest potential of the heart is to shine brightly and unconditionally.  Perhaps you have become unhappy and do not even know the root cause.  It may not be deep seeded childhood issues, bad relationships or a crazy boss.  No need to waste time on asking why, just get busy on the 'how' to take your level of happiness up a notch or two.

Do you slouch when you type or text?  It may simply be that hours you spend wrapped around your computer, iPad or Smartphone have literally effected your posture and drawn your heart closed.  Physically closing your heart by unconsciously slouching literally cuts you off from love.

Take a moment and stop everything you are doing.  Sitting or standing, allow your hands to fall to your side.  Turn your palms away from you opening the shoulders and inhale through your nose as deep as you can while your arms float up to meet over your head.  Exhale through the nose, allow the palms to face down and float down.  Try this two more times and notice the lift in the corners of your mouth.

This simple action is scientifically known to boost your endorphins or feel good hormones.  Yes, another reason to practice yoga.  It is the path to bliss.  Being Happy Healthy and Fit means practicing your posture, it is not too late to stand up straight.  Don't wait to feel happy to stand tall.  Stand tall and Be Happy!  Life is Short.  Make Yours Magical!
