Experience Ecstasy: Happiness is Consciousness
Let your soul stand ajar: always ready to welcome the ecstatic experience.
~ Emily Dickinson
Last night I had dinner with some girlfriends. The food and atmosphere were average. The experience was ecstatic.
"I just want to be Happy," is a common echo that can be heard in response to the question of What do you want? I believe it to be true. Most people just want to be happy. The biggest obstacle to Happiness is a result of old programming. The belief that things lead to Happiness creates an impenetrable Kevlar-like barrier, blocking the believer from ever attaining the blissful consciousness of ecstasy.
Recently, I had dinner with a friend, who was self-proclaimed miserable. It was an interesting comment to make after speaking of $500 massages, private airplanes and his most recent big decision: to buy or not to buy an Aston Martin. I don't share this with judgment, I share this with compassion. For his whole life, he believed these things would make him happy and he is miserable. He is alone and he is not alone.
Many people share the same belief that things will bring happiness.
As George Leonard said, "At the heart of each of us, whatever our imperfections, there exists a silent pulse of imperfect rhythm, which is absolutely individual and unique, and yet which connects us to everything else."
Nice things are wonderful, but chances are if you are excited about a $500 massage you have never experienced the essence of the free massage given by someone you love. The difference is rooted in consciousness.
Just for today, stop chasing people and things, allow your soul to remain ajar. Put away your programming and pay attention to your heart. Commit to making every interaction a real connection.
Being Happy Healthy and Fit means elevating to the Consciousness of Happiness removing the barriers that block your soul from what it craves most: Love Connections.
